4th Graders learned about artist Amedeo Modigliani and his odd proportions. Students then created their own portraits using Modigliani proportions and oil pastels. As you can see, they were very creative!

Skyscrapers
Kindergartners practiced cutting and gluing skills by creating skyscrapers. They reviewed shape and even got to add a little glitter for stars!
Medieval Self-Portraits
5th Graders learned about Medieval life and human proportions. They used this knowledge to create a Medieval self-portrait. Aren't they fabulous?!

Symmetrical Butterflies
Kindergartners learned what the word "symmetry" means. They created symmetrical butterflies with oil pastels on day 1 of the lesson. On day 2 they painted over the butterflies with watercolor.

Peace Poster
Every year the 6th graders compete in a Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Lion's Club. It is an international competition. Click here to check out the details. This year the judges had a difficult time narrowing the competitors down to just three local winners. Here are the results:

Peacocks
Aren't these beautiful?! I was really amazed at the variety. We used oil pastels and I showed the students how they could blend the colors together.
Later they added background details with colored pencil
O'Keeffe Flowers
5th Graders learned about Georgia O'Keeffe and then created their own watercolor flowers. We discussed different watercolor techniques and complimentary colors.
