5th Graders learned how to make clay rattles using the pinch pot form they learned in 4th grade (see clay fish examples). Students were asked to add clay and texture to their rattle. We used acrylic paint to finish. They turned out great!

Rainforest Animals
This was a project students worked on in both Art and Spanish class. In Spanish they learned about Costa Rica and read the book The Umbrella by Jan Brett. In art we talked about the Costa Rican Rainforest and watched a great video about sloths. Each student then selected an animal from the rainforest that they wanted to draw and learn about. Finally, the students labeled the animals in spanish.
