It has taken me four years to find a 5th grade landscape project that I really enjoy. I finally did it! These turned out so great and the students loved them! Before starting, we discussed different artistic movements including Surrealism and Fauvism. We compared Surrealism and Fauvism and talked about how during the Fauvism movement, artists used bright colors that didn't represent the world realistically. The 5th graders then created a landscape using colors like the Fauves! After drawing their landscape, students traced their foreground, middle ground, and background in black oil pastel.

Update
WOW! It has been a long time since I have updated the blog. Sorry to those of you who check frequently. I can't believe that the school year is almost half over! I got married in September :) and picked up a few more responsibilities so it has been tough to find the time to manage this site...But don't give up on me just yet! My goal for the remainder of the year is to upload pictures of the new projects I tried this year.
